Michiyo Kirkpatrick
Sensei Michiyo teaches authentic Sumi-e, Japanese ink painting.
Michiyo believes in "heart" painting.
Growing up in Kyoto, Nara, and Osaka areas in Japan, Michiyo had opportunities to see and feel numerous historic, cultural and artistic treasures in the region.
Since 2000, Michiyo Kirkpatrick, MFA, has taught art and design courses including Sumi-e at San Diego State University, Grossmont college, Cuyamaca college, Southwestern college and Palomar college.
Michiyo is currently teaching Sumi-e for the Emeritus program of San Diego Community College District Continuing Education.
